Thanksgiving day is traditionally the start of the ski season at Taos Ski Valley. This year mother nature gifted us with 24″ of snow the week before resulting in an epic opening day. The day started gray and rainy with the hope of snow at higher elevations. Despite the threat of potential rain on the slopes the call of the first day surpassed any doubts. Near the parking lots, rain turned to snow and all reservations vanished. It was going to be a great day! The chair lifts were already turning and the excitement of going “around the world” was tangible. A quick ride on chair 1 and the chance to fly across the snow was finally here.
