Fall is spectacular here in Taos. The aspen in the high country start and the show slowly moves down the mountain sides until it reaches the cottonwoods along the Rio Grande. It is the perfect time to explore the many trails that surround Taos Ski Valley. One of the best times to do this is early October when the Aspen are at their brightest. This year the Williams Lake trail was the perfect choice. The trailhead is located just past The Bavarian restaurant and chair 4 of the ski valley. Past the chairlift, the trail moves through pine forest and skirts boulder fields to finish at Williams Lake. A side trail around the lake leads to a waterfall which is a perfect place to rest and enjoy a snack before returning down the trail to enjoy it once again.
